Wider Opportunities Project

Provides opportunities for children and young people to gain qualifications and new experiences outside the school environment.

This project provides opportunities for children and young people to gain qualifications and new experiences outside the school environment and is primarily aimed at those who who have completed, or are about to finish, their GCSEs. This project helps them gain transferable skills such as how to work in a team and encourages them to enhance their leadership skills. By taking part in our wider opportunities project they will be given the advantage of being able to engage in further training, and it will set them in good stead for finding work, and should inspire them on to further education at university.

Activities include:
Volunteering with Baraka or other local groups for a 3-4 month period
Completing The Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition which will involve them being away from home for a week.
Environmental, gardening and residential trips
Youth exchange
Engaging in physical activities over a 2-3 month period

Please contact us if you’re interested in this project and we’ll get back to you once we’ve confirmed the date.
