Baraka’s Creative Drawing Holiday Class

6 June 2018

Brilliant art from the Baraka kids...

During half-term, Baraka was delighted to host its first drawing class, encouraging Primary School age children to express their creativity.

The free class was taught by local artist Ikram Awaale, who explained abstract art to the children and encouraged them to produce their own abstract paintings and drawings over two sessions.

The children then each shared what they had produced, telling the others about the feelings and the inspiration behind their creations. Each child was given a round of applause before they were able to ask Ikram a number of questions on her own creative process. They learned that she creates six pieces of art each day, and that music and sounds provide her with much of her inspiration.

Keep an eye on the Baraka website for news of upcoming classes, or get in touch to be added to the mailing list. And check out some of the kids’ art work below…
